Top 25 Games of the PS3/Xbox 360 Era: Part 3 – From Villains to Kung Fu Thrillers

Alright, gamers and SEO enthusiasts, we’re back with part three of my top 25 games of the last generation! We’ve already covered college hoops, epic battles, and international espionage. Now, let’s dive into a mix of iconic villains, western shootouts, blockbuster action, and martial arts mayhem.

15) Portal 2

GLaDOS, the passive-aggressive AI from Portal, is easily one of the greatest villains in gaming history. And in Portal 2, she’s back and better than ever.

This sequel throws you back into the Aperture Science testing chambers, where you’ll face even more mind-bending puzzles with the help (or hindrance?) of a new AI companion, Wheatley. The dialogue and humor are top-notch, guaranteed to elicit plenty of laughs. I mean, they put GLaDOS’s brain in a potato!

The puzzles are definitely more challenging this time around, but the sense of accomplishment you feel when you solve them without resorting to a walkthrough is unmatched. Add in hidden Easter eggs and a fun co-op mode, and you’ve got a game that’s a must-play for any gamer.

14) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2 was a game-changer for the PlayStation 3. It pushed the boundaries of cinematic storytelling and visuals, delivering a blockbuster experience that rivaled any Hollywood action movie. Nathan Drake’s wisecracks and the game’s globe-trotting adventure were a joy to experience.

But, as with all Uncharted games, the ending left a bit of a sour taste. Why, Naughty Dog, must you always resort to supernatural shenanigans in the final act? It’s a minor gripe, but it keeps this otherwise-perfect game from reaching its full potential.

13) Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar’s foray into the Wild West was a masterpiece. Red Dead Redemption delivered a sprawling open world, a compelling story, and a cast of memorable characters. Playing as John Marston, a former outlaw trying to protect his family, was an emotional journey that I won’t soon forget.

If you haven’t finished the game yet, do yourself a favor and see it through to the end. And if you’re feeling brave, check out the Undead Nightmare DLC for a spooky twist on the Western formula.

12) Borderlands 2

While the original Borderlands was fun, its sequel took everything to the next level. The story, side missions, and humor were all vastly improved, and the loot system was as addictive as ever.

Seriously, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of finding a new, ridiculously overpowered gun in Pandora. And let’s not forget Claptrap, the dubstep-singing, insult-slinging robot companion who somehow manages to be both annoying and endearing.

If you’re looking for a loot-driven FPS with a healthy dose of humor, Borderlands 2 is the way to go.

11) Sleeping Dogs

I’ve already gushed about Sleeping Dogs in a previous review, but let me reiterate: it’s a fantastic open-world game set in a vibrant Hong Kong. The combat is fluid and satisfying, the story is gripping, and the city itself is a joy to explore.

If you’re looking for an open-world experience that’s a bit off the beaten path, Sleeping Dogs is a must-play. And with the Nightmare in Northpoint DLC adding a spooky twist, there’s never been a better time to dive in.

Stay tuned for the final 10 games on the countdown!
